Hia Majesty's Government have had under consideration the suggestions contained in your telegrams Nos. 179 of the

sarʼar

80th february and sat of the 5th garch last regarding

of buohoos

ogation at oking in the grant for the import af Ult of var into

nino.

They see grave objection to the anggestion made by the asnager of the Jaraine sngineering Corporation that aplications for

buoim

*hian kave already been, or are likely to be, refused, should be forwarded through His kajesty's Legation. Such a procedure would, in their opinion, be tantamowit to putting pressure on the hinese Bovernment to allow the importation of

ares which they did not desire to see imported. As such it would be open to strong and not un Juatirled eriticism both in this country anc in China.

In view, however, of the disadvantages under which British exorters labour owing to the observance by Ki# Majesty's Government of the Chinese Government's regulations for the importation of war materiel, Kia kajesty's Government have decided that, where reputable British arms exporters are interested, you should when suck action can properly be taken, make informal verbal representations, similar to those made by the Frenen lugntion, ia support of applications for "huchaos.
